Belgium international Thomas Vermaelen has been ruled to the sidelines after he hurt his right finger in a different injury.

Vermaelen has been injury-ravaged of late and the injuries are threatening to end his professional football career.
La Liga champions Barcelona loaned the player to Serie A giants AS Roma but the defender has barely played for the club due to various injuries. Since arriving in the Italian capital city last summer, Vermaelen has featured just eight times.
In the latest reports about the former Arsenal player, he hurt his finger so he would miss the next match for Roma. The 31-year old Belgium international played just 21 games in two years at the Nou Camp before agreeing to the loan move.
He was in heart of the defence at the Emirates but injuries forced him out as Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny took over. Barcelona acquired him for £15 million but they are yet to reap the rewards of the investment. The player barely made an impression whilst missing games due to a bad injury record.
Roma agreed to get him on loan for a season with an option to buy. However, with how things have turned out they would not agree to a permanent deal. With the Spanish side suffering from poor form, the Belgian could be out of a deal at the end of the season. They would not get decent offers for the aging player with a bad injury record but small sides could ask for his services during the summer.
