Pellegrinin confident Hart will renew contract

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says that he is confident that goalkeeper Joe Hart will sign a new contract in the next few months. The speculation surrounding the England international has grown in the last few weeks due to City’s failure to agree terms with the player. The 27-year-old has been the number one choice for Manchester City and England in the last few years. However, he has been a little inconsistent in recent times and this led to City bringing in a high-profile backup in the summer. With his contract expiring in the summer of 2016, City have been involved in negotiations.

There appears to have been made no progress in the negotiations, as he is yet to sign a new deal. Pellegrini, however, continues to pick the player on a regular basis. He says that he has no worries about the contractual situation, as he is really confident that Hart will sign a new contract. The presence of Willy Caballero appears to have had a positive impact on the England international. The former Malaga goalkeeper is more than capable of playing on a regular basis for City. Pellegrini says that apart from the first three months of 2014, he is more than satisfied with the performances of Hart.

“I think it’s an issue that we’re talking about. I think in the right moment, (we will) have the right solution. I think Joe wants to stay here and we want him to stay. He is not responding to the challenge of Willy, he is responding as the No 1 goalkeeper as England,” Pellegrini added, when asked if he thought the summer signing of Willy Caballero might have provided extra motivation for Roy Hodgson’s first-choice keeper. Except for the first three months of last year, Joe Hart always puts in a very good performance,” said Pellegrini.
