Wengar Claims Arsenal Not Finished With Signings

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says that the club may not have finished with signing players this transfer window, as he says that two more players could arrive between now and the end of the window. Wenger has already brought in the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy in this transfer window. Calum Chambers recently signed from Southampton for £ 16 million, while goalkeeper Ospina could also make a £ 3 million move in the next few days. This would take Arsenal’s summer spending beyond £ 60 million, but it seems that Arsene Wenger is keen on improving the squad even further.

When asked if the club’s transfer activity for the summer is finally completed, Wenger remained coy on this aspect and suggested that there could be more in the next few weeks. The start of the season is only a fortnight away, as Arsenal take on Crystal Palace in the opening game. The match will be at the Emirates stadium, which recently saw a pre-season defeat at the hands of Monaco. Despite this, there is a lot of positivity surrounding the club due to the number of experienced players they are bringing into the team.

Mesut Ozil was the marquee signing last summer and Sanchez takes his place this time around after his £ 35 million move.

“Who’s next [to sign for Arsenal]? I don’t know. There could still be one signing. Just the one, maybe two maximum. No, not really. If a good opportunity comes up we might still do but at the moment we’re not close to signing anybody. I’m very happy with the squad I have available at the moment but we might be short at the back, maybe. Of course, a new signing will always get a big welcome, the crowd like that,” said Wenger.
