There is a real danger of Arsenal losing out on Arsene Wenger, who has just 12 months left on his contract. However, Chief executive Ivan Gazidis has hinted heavily that the club will be offering a new contract to the Frenchman shortly. Wenger is widely regarded as a man who revolutionised Arsenal in such a way that they are regarded as the Barcelona of England. However, the inability to win trophies in the last eight years has affected the chances of Wenger remaining at the club. He has been linked with a return to France.
However, Arsenal appears to be confident of retaining the Frenchman, who has been at the club for more than 15 years, by offering him a new deal in the near future. Wenger is known to be a man of his word, which is the reason for him not thinking about leaving for PSG a few weeks ago. The French giants have enormous money to spend after the arrival of Qatari owners, and they are believed to be extremely keen on Wenger. After the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, Wenger was made as the primary target to replace him. However, Wenger did not entertain any offers from PSG.
A section of the Arsenal supporters of the opinion that it is time for a change, but Gazidis disagrees with this opinion.
“What I really don’t want to do is have a public discussion about Arsene’s contractual position. That would be a daily, weekly fixture on the public coverage if you start getting into that. What I will say is that we think we have got a fantastic manager. We hope that he wants to do what he is doing for the long term. I believe he does. I think he is still ambitious, still driven and sees the potential of the club as he looks forward and I think he is very excited by that,” said Gazidis.
